Fifth meeting of Steering Committee of the European Union (EU) funded project “Support for Public Administration Capacity Building in Turkmenistan” was conducted on 17 October 2019 in the Yildiz hotel. The meeting was organized to discuss the achieved results for the fifth reporting period November 2018 – April 2019 and planned further project activities.
Head of Cooperation of the EU Delegation to Kazakhstan Mr. Johannes Stenbaek Madsen, Chargé d’affaires of the EU Delegation to Turkmenistan Mr. Lubomir Frebort and Key expert Mr. Ilya Ikonnikov, representatives of Embassies of the EU member-states – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Turkmenistan Mr. Francois Delahousse and representative of the Embassy Mr. Tnej Valerio, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Turkmenistan Mr. Diego Ungaro, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to Turkmenistan Mr. Sorin Moldovan, as well as the regular members of the Project Steering Committee – representatives of the Academy of Civil Service under President of Turkmenistan, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Institute of State, Law and Democracy of Turkmenistan, Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population of Turkmenistan, Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, International University for the Humanities and Development and Project Experts participated in the meeting.
Chairman of the Project Steering Committee, Rector of the Academy of Civil Service under the President of Turkmenistan (AoCS) Mr. Annamyradov opened the meeting and reported on the successful collaborative work of the project with AoCS.
Team Leader of the project Mr. Folkert Milch presented the activities implemented during the reporting period under the Project Component 1 and 2. The Team Leader introduced major project achievements during the reporting period and shared with the meeting participants the future plans, objectives, and aims for the next reporting period. A preliminary list of activities planned for the possible extended period of the project was also mentioned in the meeting.
The participants actively discussed the accomplished goals of the project. The main discussion points were about a limited number of lecturers of AoCS to teach the future MPA program and AoCS’s e-resource center related issues. In this regard, project beneficiaries offered their help in the provision of teaching materials. Representatives of the EU Delegation and Embassies also expressed their readiness to provide Turkmenistan and the project additional support.
The meeting was concluded with a statement of Mr. Madsen: “I appreciate the work done and very well prepared report. My compliments to the project”, positive impression of participants on the achievements of the project and approval of minutes of the fourth meeting of the Project Steering Committee.
