Management Psychology as a tool to improve human relations in Public Administration

TRAINING ON THE MODULE “MANAGEMENT PSYCHOLOGY”, DEVELOPED AS PART OF THE MASTER’S PROGRAM IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION FOR THE ACADEMY OF CIVIL SERVICE UNDER THE PRESIDENT OF TURKMENISTANn

Ashgabat, 16-17 January 2020. The European Union (EU) funded project “Support for Public Administration Capacity Building in Turkmenistan” organized training on Management Psychology presented by the international expert of the project, Professor Tatyana Zaitseva. A two-day training was held in the Turkmen State University named after Magtymguly (TSU) and Academy of Civil Service under the President of Turkmenistan (AoCS) for the lecturers and students of these Institutions.

The event was aimed at sharing the best European practices in Management Psychology for enhancing the institutional and training capacities of AoCS and other stakeholders through the development of modern training programs.

The first round of the training was conducted in the TSU where Dr. Tatyana Zaytseva, representative of the EU delegation to Turkmenistan Mr. Ilya Ikonnikov, and project experts were acquainted with the Geological Museum of the university and offered warm hospitality.  More than 90 participants from TSU, around 25 participants from AoCS, International University for the Humanities and Development, and Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan participated in the event.

The second round of the training was organized for the lecturers and students of the AoCS.  More than 50 participants took an active part in the training in AoCS.

During the training, the objectives and components of Management Psychology were presented by the expert.  The main discussion points were about the employee typologies, ethical typology of personality, Behavioral, Humanistic and Activity theories of motivation, the theory of leadership, group and team activities, communication and its components, conflict management with respective examples from the different experiments and studies made by famous scientists.  The topic on the importance of considering cultural differences before making psychological decisions raised a great interest among the participants. Management Psychology is considered as an important discipline in Public Administration and it was added as a compulsory study subject to the future Master’s degree program in Public Administration for the AoCS.
