October 9-11, 2019, Ashgabat, Turkmenistan: The European Union funded Project “Support to Further Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development in Turkmenistan – SARD III” co-hosted a seminar on “Export Practice and Procedures for New Exporters” in partnership with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. This three-day seminar was an opportunity for new exporters to enhance their knowledge in the development of concrete export strategies and access to foreign markets. A purpose was to improve participants’ understanding of export opportunities for SMEs, to introduce steps for a company to undertake in order to export successfully, as well as use the acquired knowledge and skills in exporting goods and services abroad and entering new markets. The audience was composed of Turkmen entrepreneurs, business and export managers from all velayats of the country. Leading the seminar was Mr. Jonathan Ian Walden, an international trade and facilitation expert, specializing in all elements of international trade, transport, and supply chain, with over 30 years of experience in the field. This activity was part of SARD III activities aimed at supporting the Government of Turkmenistan in increasing productivity and competitiveness of the agro-food sector through activities that improve production, processing, and marketing, as well as strengthening the capacity of supporting the public sector agriculture institutions. The activity builds on the progress achieved to date by SARD III in the area of private sector development and export promotion.
