Support for Further Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development in Turkmenistan
Overall Objective of SARD III:
To support the Government of Turkmenistan (GoT) in the achievement of national sector objectives for sustainable agriculture, rural development and institutional support to the rural agri/sector.
Specific Objectives of SARD III:
1. To increase the productivity and competitiveness of the agro-food sectorthrough activities aimed to improve agro-food production and marketing
2. To strenthen the capacity of supporting Turkmen agricultural institutions in fulfilling their roles in achieviing this objective

Planned Activities:
Pillar A – Private Sector Development
A.1.1 Formulate product reports for milk, meat, poultry, fruit and vegetable products
A.1.2 Discuss with key stakeholders how findings can be followed at primary level
A.1.3 Formulate action plans to address weaknesses in the agricultural value chain
A.1.4 Agree activities with stakeholders
A.1.5 Identify financial resources for VC pilots
A.1.6 Monitor progress and adjust as needed
A.2.1 Engage with UoIE to establish technical & market information service for VC’s
A.2.2 Establish an effective representative group in product & stakeholder sectors of VC’s collate feedback from VC stakeholders

Pillar B–Market Linkage Development (Export)
B.1 Identify, select primary products (HVA)

B.3 Support missions (B2B) trips to develop export possibilities for Turkmen agri-products

B.5 Support and mentor enterprises to formulate feasible business and marketing plans

Pillar C – Food Safety
C.1 Produce food safety report recommendations
C.2 Provide FS support to selected pilots
C.3 Engage with related initiatives and groups (UoIE TM TC 06) developing synergy
C.4 Support UoIE efforts to build food safety consultancy and certification framework
C.5 Support formation of food products laboratory testing framework including ISO 17025
C.6 Assist international harmonization of Turkmen food safety regulations & standards
C.7 Support to GS1 Turkmenistan to establish traceability system
Pillar D – Capacity Building – VC Operators
D.1.1 Identify VC’s support institutions and personnel and GoT
D.1.2 Discuss and consult CB proposals that meets consulted and agreed requirements
