SARD III Supports Visit of Turkmen Entrepreneurs to the EuroTier Exhibition

On September 2-4, 2019, the European Union funded project “Support to Further Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development (SARD III)” supported visit of the officials and dairy and beef member enterprises of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, accompanied by the experts of the Project, to the EuroTier Animal Farming Exhibition in Abu Dhabi, UAE. 

The EuroTier is the world’s leading trade fair for livestock professionals and animal production, which gathers the most prominent and key industry players from around the world. The event serves as an ideal platform for farmers, cooperatives, processors, associations, agricultural businesses, ministries, and other institutions from the AgriFood Business sector as well as industry professionals and experts to come together and discuss industry trends, local and regional sectoral needs, challenges and appropriate solutions in the livestock business.

The Agenda of the Exhibition offered Turkmen delegation an opportunity to experience innovations along the whole animal livestock chain. Over the course of several days, the members of the delegation took part in most exhibition programs offered by the organizers, including animal breeding, feeding, and new technologies in the area of milking, processing, cooling, marketing, equipment, and veterinary related issues.

During the Exhibition, members of the delegation explored specific requirements related to quality, safety and halal standards of the UAE and other GCC markets, learnt about latest and advanced technologies on livestock production business, explored the current situation in the regional livestock market, market trends and developments as well as opportunities for the Turkmen livestock producers to become viable players in the region.

This activity was part of SARD III activities aimed at supporting the Government of Turkmenistan in increasing productivity and competitiveness of the agri-food sector through activities that improve production, processing, and marketing, as well as strengthening the capacity of supporting public sector agriculture institutions.  The activity builds on the progress achieved to date by SARD III in the area of private sector development and export promotion.
